Maharashtra State Olympic Games
In order to create a sporting environment in the state and to encourage various sports, as well as to provide maximum opportunities for athletes showcasing their skills at international, national, and state levels to participate in competitions and prepare for national sports competitions, the Maharashtra government and the Maharashtra Olympic Association organized the ‘Maharashtra State Olympic Games’ from January 2 to 12, 2023, in Pune, Baramati, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Jalna, Sangli, and Amravati. A fund of ₹19,07,94,600/- has been allocated by the government for this competition. A total of 7444 athletes participated in 37 sports disciplines. On January 4 and 5, 2023, a main sports torch rally was organized at Raigad Fort. The main sports torch rally started from Raigad Fort and was conducted to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at S.S.P.M. in Pune.
