5 percent reservation in government service:

The government has taken a historic decision to provide reservations for athletes in employment. Athletes who achieve proficiency in sports competitions at the state, national, and international levels are given a 5% reservation in government services. The decision to reserve jobs for athletes with exceptional Performance in various government departments, state-owned and controlled corporations, local authorities, and institutions that receive various forms of government concessions has been made under the government resolution of the School Education and Sports Department, No. RAKRIDHO-2002/Pr. No. 68/Kriyuse-2, dated April 30, 2005, June 21, 2006, and November 18, 2006. So far, under the 5% reservation for athletes, a total of 4949 (four thousand nine hundred forty-nine) athletes have been given the benefit of government jobs in various government offices by the directorate as per the government resolution dated April 30, 2005. This includes jobs in groups A, B, C, and D.
