Establishment of International Sports University, Maharashtra

The purpose of establishing the “International Sports University, Maharashtra” is to further enhance the state’s performance in sports, to provide more and more job and training opportunities in the sports sector considering the various fields available internationally, and to produce quality coaches/trainers as well as athletes. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of former Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, Dr. Vijay Khole, to prepare the necessary act for the establishment of the sports university. The International Sports University, Maharashtra Act was published on 28/12/2020.

Accredited University – The University Grants Commission, Delhi, has included the International Sports University, Maharashtra, in the list of accredited universities as per the letter dated 03/08/2021. Nomenclature Accreditation – A presentation was made to the University Grants Commission, Delhi, on 24/09/2021 regarding the Nomenclature for a new curriculum at the International Sports University, Maharashtra. The University Grants Commission granted Nomenclature accreditation for the Bachelor of Sports Science and Bachelor of Sports Management programs through a letter dated 03/03/2022. First Phase Courses – It is proposed to start the following courses in the first phase.

For the university, it is proposed to create 213 posts for a duration of 5 years according to the current requirements, with 133 posts in the first year (100 posts in regular pay scale and 33 posts on contract pay). A proposal regarding the recruitment of officers and staff for management from external sources was submitted to the government on 28.7.2021. This includes 39 posts such as Dean, Professor, Assistant Professor, Accounts Officer, Clerk, and other staff for the university.
